  • Update: September 8, 2020 (4:05 AM ET): Microsoft has officially announced the Xbox Series S. The company has also revealed its design and pricing, which match the leaked information below. You can read all about the official announcement here.

Original article: September 8, 2020 (2:01 AM ET):  The prices and release date for the Microsoft Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles just leaked. The cheaper of the two upcoming consoles — the Xbox Series S — was also revealed in a separate design leak.

The first leak came from the folks over at Thurrott that posted an image (pictured above) allegedly showing the new Xbox Series S console. We first heard about the supposedly cheaper gaming machine in August, and the latest leak confirms its price at $299. The leaked image shows a white, rectangular console that resembles the Xbox One S. It doesn’t appear to have a disc drive, but the publication could not confirm the same.

A leaker called WalkingCat also posted a video of the alleged Xbox Series S on Twitter, showing how small the console is in comparison to the Xbox Series X. You can see that video below.

The authenticity of the design, as well as the $299 price tag of the Series S, was also corroborated (h/t The Verge) by gaming analyst Daniel Ahmad on Twitter.

Citing sources, Windows Central reports that both the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X will launch on November 10. This date was earlier tipped to be November 6. The publication goes on to confirm the $299 price of the Series S console and adds that the Series X will be priced at $499. The former will apparently have a $25/month Xbox All Access financing option, while the latter will also come with a $35/month financing deal. These financing options are expected to roll out more widely with the new generation of consoles, reaching more markets than before.
