Stead re-signs as Black Caps head coach until 2023 Cricket World Cup. New Zealand head coach Gary Stead has been reappointed until the end of the 2023 Cricket World Cup. Stead replaced Mike Hesson at the helm in 2018 and led the Black Caps to the Cricket World Cup final last year, when they fell to England in a thriller. The 48-year-old has extended his contract to remain in charge in all three formats through until the end of the 2023 tournament, which is scheduled to be played in India. "It's an honour and a privilege to be reappointed," he said. "I think this group of players is growing as a team. There's an exciting schedule ahead of us and I know everyone is feeling very optimistic about our chances in all three formats.
