Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman gets a new nemesis in the Cheetah (Kristen Wiig) in director Patty Jenkins' superhero sequel 'Wonder Woman 1984.'

At the virtual fan event DC FanDome Saturday, "Wonder Woman 1984" director Patty Jenkins premiered a new trailer for the superhero sequel starring Gal Gadot, though the panel featured a cameo from the original Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter.

Fresh footage from "Wonder Woman 1984" showed the first battle between Gadot's Amazon princess against Kristen Wiig as the animalistic "apex predator" Cheetah as well the return of Wonder Woman's love interest Steve Trevor (Chris Pine), the World War I pilot who gets brought into the 1980s and learns about fanny packs and parachute pants. "Does everybody parachute now?" Steve quips.

COVID-19 delayed the movie from summer to the fall, but Jenkins reaffirmed its current Oct. 2 theatrical release remains on schedule. "We all worked so hard to bring something would be a big visual spectacular," the director said. "We're going to stick out and we believe in putting it in the cinema."

Added Gadot: "As much as we want to share the movie with the world, at least we figure out creative ways to communicate with our beloved, most amazing fans."

"The Mandalorian" star Pedro Pascal, who plays rich supervillain Maxwell Lord in the new "Wonder Woman," thought he was going to look like a fool wearing “horrifying power suits from the 1980s.” Instead, though, with the stylish costumes he wears, Pascal felt "like a million dollars.”

Pine admitted his job in the new movie "again is to be in love with Gal, which is not a hard gig, and to make her giggle." However, there is an "interest and curiosity" with Steve, who was thought dead after the first movie, as he gets acclimated to the '80s. "It was a good lesson for me as human being to open up and not be so cool."

Tennis star Venus Williams stopped by FanDome to ask who would win in a match between Wonder Woman and her new nemesis, Cheetah. "I think Cheetah would win," Wiig said. "Wonder Woman would have like a gold tennis racket to go with everything and it would just be too heavy and I'm fast."

Wiig also revealed one of her favorite moments was doing a fight scene with Gadot when Cheetah's wig got stuck in Wonder Woman's wrist gauntlet: "We laughed so hard."

Everybody was very excited when Carter, the star of the 1970s "Wonder Woman" TV show, showed up, especially Wiig. "I watched your show, I had Wonder Woman Underoos and I'm so excited to meet you," said Wiig, who also went as Wonder Woman at Halloween.

Carter said she has been a fan of Jenkins since she was first attached to the original "Wonder Woman" movie and also told an emotional story. "When my daughter saw Gal as Wonder Woman, she said, 'Mom, I finally get it. I finally understand why everyone idolizes you. I finally get what Wonder Woman means to everyone,' " Carter recalled.

Gadot doesn't think we've seen enough female superheroes on screen yet. "For little girls, once they see it, they believe it," she said. "For little girls to be exposed to these types of movies, whether it's 'Wonder Woman' or any other female-driven movie in this genre, is so important. It's so empowering."

Melania Trump pulls her hand away from Donald Trump's as they step off Air Force One. A video has shown Melania Trump appearing to refuse to hold husband Donald Trump's hand as they stepped off Air Force One. Footage, which has been widely shared online, shows the First Lady, 50, navigating the steps from the presidential aircraft in high heels while trying to hold her dress down in windy conditions. However, many on social suggested she was giving her 74-year-old husband the cold shoulder as she moved her arm away when he tried to grab hold of it. The US president appeared to make a second attempt before finally placing his right hand on her lower back. Twitter users had mixed opinions on the couple's body language, with one person writing: "Nope. She doesn't want him touching her." Another said: "Or she's trying to keep her dress down from wind.
